Our son Patrick was born three and a half weeks early this past July of all days, on the morning I was scheduled to photograph a wedding. I’m fortunate to have had a VERY understanding bride and an associate photography team who handled things exactly the way I would have. My team even surprised me by accomplishing a same day edit they shared at the reception. Having a premature baby presented us with a whole new set of challenges aside from the obvious, what in the world do I do with a real live human baby? Patrick had a few challenges not uncommon for a baby for being born before his due date. Some of those challenges led us to meet several of the wonderful staff at the NICU of Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was born. One of those kind hearted, warm smiling and extremely knowledgeable persons about infants was Meg. From the moment we met Meg, my wife Angela and I knew Patrick was in good hands.
Fast forward three months… Patrick is home, doing well and we are adapting to our new life with an adorable baby boy. Not too long ago I received an inquiry from Meg who shared she was recently engaged and was in the market for a wedding photographer for her upcoming Ocean City, Maryland wedding. I was so excited to reconnect with this lovely person and was extremely humbled and honored when she asked if I would document her special day.
Meg, her fiancé Dave and I recently met in West Ocean City to capture their engagement photos. From the moment I met Dave, it was easy to tell he shared the same kind hearted attributes as Meg. We chatted about how they met while both working in the Ocean City restaurant scene, where they went to college (go Sea Gulls) and of course all about their wedding at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church and reception at OC360 Eats + Drinks on the top floor of the Fenwick Inn. After spending a short time at the Ocean City Fishing Center marina we strolled over to Homer Gudelsky Park or better known to us locals as “Stinky Beach”. The best part about the off-season is the lack of people on the beach so we literally had the place all to ourselves. I think you’ll see in these photos how strong of a connection these two have with each other which made my job capturing them that much easier!
Meg + Dave thank you for trusting me with your photography, I can’t wait to celebrate with you next year! Meg, thank you and ALL of the other caring NICU nurses, medical providers and staff for all that you do. Please know Angela and I thank you ALL from the bottom of our hearts for taking care of our sweet boy.
